Florence Day 1

Here we are 2.5 years later and I still haven't finished blogging about Italy....so here's the rest of our trip!

After Gerfalco we stopped in Sienna on our way out to Florence. It was absolutely beautiful and we hope to go back and really visit some day. 

We took a bus from Sienna to Florence. We checked into our hotel and then went out and grabbed some lunch at I Due Fratellini. It was a simple Italian sandwich shop, but so good. I got a panini with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes and I still am thinking about it. 

Then we went to Piazza degli Uffizi, an art museum. 

Then we went to the Basilica Santa Croce, the burial place of Michelangelo.

After that we got gelato at Vivoli. It was scrumptious. 

Then the Galleria dell'Accademia where the statue of David is. Then the viewpoint at La Rinascente.
At that point I got pretty cranky. It was dinnertime and nothing sounded good or looked good and I was suuuper tired. We went back to the hotel and Nick grabbed some pizza for us to eat in our room. Being hungry and tired is not a good combo.  But Nick was super sweet and nice about me being grumpy. We went to bed early so we could get an early start the next day.
